Human Resources Certificate

Our workshops, seminars, and certificate programs give nonprofit leaders and teams the skills, frameworks, and credentials to strengthen their organizations and deepen their impact.

The Human Resources Certificate provides a practical, comprehensive grounding in HR for nonprofits — covering employment law, the full employee lifecycle, and the real-world situations that require both confidence and sound judgment.

THE HR Foundation Your Organization Depends On

In most nonprofits, HR responsibilities don't belong exclusively to an HR department — they’re distributed across managers, directors, and leadership team members who need to get it right regardless of their formal background. When the people handling hiring, performance, and compensation have strong foundational knowledge, organizations reduce risk, build better cultures, and support their staff more effectively.

Three full days of in-person instruction cover the full arc of HR management — from job postings and interviews through performance evaluations, terminations, compensation structures, and employee leave — grounded in real-world case studies and scenarios that reflect the specific HR situations nonprofit professionals actually face. You’ll leave with the frameworks and practical skills to handle what's already on your plate, and whatever comes next.

Who It's For

This certificate is designed for nonprofit professionals who carry HR responsibilities at any level — whether you're leading an organization, managing a team, or handling hiring and staff management as part of a broader role — and want formal grounding in employment law, best practices, and real-world HR problem-solving.

What You'll Learn

The curriculum covers the three core domains of nonprofit HR management: hiring best practices and employment law compliance, performance management and termination, and compensation, benefits, and employee leave — with a consistent focus on practical application and organizational risk.

Program

The program includes three in-person full-day sessions. Participants must attend all three sessions within 18 months to earn the certificate.
